I love Michelle Yeoh.  She is gorgeous and goes after what she wants.   She doesn’t just succeed, she excels to heights of mastery and respect.  In her first movie “The Owl vs Bombo,” she was the beautiful damsel in distress.   The martial arts scenes in this movie fueled a desire to learn this ancient fighting art.  I can see the eye rolls and hear the doubt she must have dealt with.  But she did it!  She became hugely successful.  Not only in China, but world wide.  

In “Tomorrow Never Dies,” Michelle Yeoh is the only Bond Girl to kick ass in 2—that’s right 2—action scenes solo.  No Bond, no problem.  She is such a special martial artist that they couldn’t find a double for her in Tomorrow Never Dies.   No one could match her talent, grace and expertise.  So she did all her fighting scenes.   Here’s a snippet from YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A124G_mHumY&feature=related

Want more?  That’s her jumping and kicking and dominating a horde of male butts on a moving truck in  ”Silver Hawk.” At the end of the scene, the men are crumpled at her feet.  Defeated.  Michelle:  Come on…let’s go…give me 5 more minutes?  Love it.  Just one of the reasons why Rotten Tomatoes has ranked her the greatest action heroine of all time?

And more still:  Michelle was nominated as Best Actress by the BAFTA for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” chosen as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in 1997 by People magazine, and is a supporter of the Save China’s Tigers project which aims at saving the endangered South China Tigerthrough re-wilding and release them into the wild.

Michelle has become a fantastic actress as well.  Besides her nomination for Best Actress for “Crouching Tiger,” she starred in ”Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Sunshine.”   Has she gone all “Hollywood?”  No.  She has this wonderful air of mystery about her because she has stayed who she is.  She lives in Hong Kong.  She’ll come out to her latest premiere, absolutely breathtaking and then disappear.   This is so much sexier than being caught wearing no underwear, the press discussing when you are going to jail or your latest romantic disaster.  Yawn.

I love Dolly Parton.  She’s sassy, slightly naughty, smart, witty and wise.  When asked the secret of her long marriage Dolly says: “When my husband gets a little complacent, I pack my bags and stay gone!”  LOVE IT!  Girl knows her power over men.  Other reasons to be inspired by this amazing woman:

1.  She has a fantastic sense of humor.  Even when others put her down.  See #4.

Have you seen the movie “Legally Blonde?”  I would love to have Elle Woods as a friend.  Here’s why:

1.  Elle is a fantastic friend.  She helped her friend land the man of her dreams and was happy for a friend who was getting married.  Even though she had recently been dumped by “the love of her life.”

2.  Elle has Desire and Drive.  It may have been misplaced initially when she decided to go to Harvard for her boyfriend, but she dumped him by the end of the movie.   Why?  She committed to something and learned along the way.  She learned what a loser the “love of her life” had been and moved on, pronto.

3.  Elle has Discipline.  She worked hard once she got into Harvard.  She was a misplaced Pink Princess when she first arrived and no one took her seriously.  She made no excuses.  She adapted to the hard work while remaining true to herself.  Watching her on the stairmaster while studying!  That gives me a little kick in the butt.

4.  Elle has integrity.  When a girlfriend begged her to not tell the court her true alibi, the one that would get her off murder charges, Elle found another way.  When her fellow students and teacher gave her grief, she stuck to her guns.  That’s the kind of friend I want fighting for me!

5.  Elle’s loyal.   To past friends and new ones.

6.  Elle always looks fantastic! And I know that if I looked a little too “rolled out of beddy,”  she would tell me.

7a  Elle speaks her mind.  When a study group was mean to her at the library, she stuck up for herself.  She said “You know, if you had come to my sorority I would have at least been nice to you.”  7b.  Elle’s pleasant.  She was pleasant but firm in her delivery.  This way of communicating is so much more powerful than a hissy fit or fighting.

8.  Elle’s funny and creative.  She made a video to send to the powers-that-be at Harvard extolling her virtues on why she should go there.  She took a chance, did something different and believed in it.  Elle is always looking for a way to stand out.  Maybe we shouldn’t perfume our resumes’ like she does, but it’s a good theory to put into practice, eh?

Yes, it’s a movie and there were plenty of people helping her with #6, but how much effort does it really take to spend some time on you?  I was at a restaurant last night and couldn’t believe the people that looked like they just rolled out of bed.  It takes a moment to find matching clothes and comb your hair. 

I hereby dub Elle Woods “Luscious Pink Bitch,” of Bitch Lifestyle.

Welcome to “Empowered Women don’t tolerate BS 101.”  Today we learn from someone I would love to crown Queen Bitch of the Court-Judge Judy.  It’s so well deserved.  She is the reason for the popularity of Courtroom Drama TV shows.  The rest pale by comparison and can get too touchy feely, off the point and preachy.  Judge Judy stays with the facts.  She doesn’t let the plaintiff or defendant go off on long tangents about things irrelevant to the case.  Judge Judy is witty and wise.  She catches the lies, calls the BS and the case is solved.  She may get a little dramatic, but this is entertaining television remember. 

While watching her I’ve learned things that favor us here at Bitch Lifestyle:

1.  Do not lie to Judge Judy.  She’ll call you on it and put you in your place pronto. (So will The Bitch)

2.  If you’re dumb enough to continue to lie, Judge Judy will analyze why you are lying.  Are you ready to face personal truth? (The Bitch will do so if she cares for you, then she’ll watch your actions.  She won’t waste her time with perpetual liars)

2.  Do not interrupt people while they are speaking.  It’s rude. (The Bitch is polite)

3.  Take responsibility for yourself and your family.  Don’t be the person scamming others to make a buck and raising the next generation of scammers.  (The Bitch loves herself, family and friends always.  Because she respects herself and the people around her, she doesn’t take advantage of others for her own gain)

4.   Take a step back from your ego.  Ask yourself, is this worth my valuable time?  Is there an easy way to solve this problem without tons of drama?  If you’re silly enough to bring something to court that’s silly, don’t be surprised if Judge Judy tells you you’re silly and why. (The Bitch does not engage in silliness.  Unless it’s fun and playful!)

5.  We have a choice.   We can choose to fill our lives with people that have serious character flaws.   Or we can fill our lives with people that appreciate, love, and are faithful to us.  People that enhance our lives, not add stress to it.  Yes…we are going to have problems.  Who do you want in your corner?  Cheaters or people that make us better for knowing them? (The Bitch surrounds herself with wonderful people.  She is grateful everyday for the love surrounding her)

6.  We can learn from Judge Judy.  We can watch her effortlessly finesse the people who sue, lie, cheat and steal.  If we encounter scammers we have a playbook on how to deal with them.  The dos and don’ts.  (Bitches appreciate and learn from other strong women)

Girl Power is wonderful.  I loved Charlie’s Angels Season One.  I so wanted to hang out with these gorgeous, warm, friendly, fun, witty, talented women.  Best of all?  These women really took care of each other.  Supported each other.  No judgement, just love.  The first thing Sabrina does in episode one is make a juice shake for her friends.  So they stay “healthy.”

The Angels were spot on detectives, but human.  They were hurt in relationships, betrayed, and thrown major curve balls to deal with.   We watched Sabrina learn to sing for a crush she had, Kelly break off with a wonderful man (Tom Selleck!) in order to protect him, and watched Jill’s excitement when she met a gorgeous, successful man:  A man who wound up using her.  You felt all the pain and cheered when they won the day.

Which Charlie’s Angel did you identify with?  For me, it was Kelly.  She was warm, giving and an orphan.  Because of that background, she was emotionally unavailable with men.  But she was open about that fact.  It made you like her more and root for her to have a family.  She had one within the detective agency, but I knew someday she would have so much more!   I always wanted to enjoy my life first and be successful on my own before I settled down with a man.  Like Kelly.
