I love Michelle Yeoh.  She is gorgeous and goes after what she wants.   She doesn’t just succeed, she excels to heights of mastery and respect.  In her first movie “The Owl vs Bombo,” she was the beautiful damsel in distress.   The martial arts scenes in this movie fueled a desire to learn this ancient fighting art.  I can see the eye rolls and hear the doubt she must have dealt with.  But she did it!  She became hugely successful.  Not only in China, but world wide.  

In “Tomorrow Never Dies,” Michelle Yeoh is the only Bond Girl to kick ass in 2—that’s right 2—action scenes solo.  No Bond, no problem.  She is such a special martial artist that they couldn’t find a double for her in Tomorrow Never Dies.   No one could match her talent, grace and expertise.  So she did all her fighting scenes.   Here’s a snippet from YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A124G_mHumY&feature=related

Want more?  That’s her jumping and kicking and dominating a horde of male butts on a moving truck in  ”Silver Hawk.” At the end of the scene, the men are crumpled at her feet.  Defeated.  Michelle:  Come on…let’s go…give me 5 more minutes?  Love it.  Just one of the reasons why Rotten Tomatoes has ranked her the greatest action heroine of all time?

And more still:  Michelle was nominated as Best Actress by the BAFTA for “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” chosen as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in 1997 by People magazine, and is a supporter of the Save China’s Tigers project which aims at saving the endangered South China Tigerthrough re-wilding and release them into the wild.

Michelle has become a fantastic actress as well.  Besides her nomination for Best Actress for “Crouching Tiger,” she starred in ”Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Sunshine.”   Has she gone all “Hollywood?”  No.  She has this wonderful air of mystery about her because she has stayed who she is.  She lives in Hong Kong.  She’ll come out to her latest premiere, absolutely breathtaking and then disappear.   This is so much sexier than being caught wearing no underwear, the press discussing when you are going to jail or your latest romantic disaster.  Yawn.

So behold the gorgeous one, Michelle Yeoh.  I hereby crown her Queen Bitch of Martial Arts and Grace!  Love, Goddess

Cowardice \Cow”ard*ice\ (-[i^]s), n. [F. couardise, fr. couard.  See Coward.]  Want of courage to face danger; extreme timidity; pusillanimity; base fear of danger or hurt; lack of spirit.

Everyone has fear.  Everyone has things to do that aren’t easy, or that they don’t want to do.  How you handle these things show whether you’re a coward or not.   Saturday night I was depending on someone for a show I was producing.  An hour before the show he flaked by email.  He knew I wouldn’t get the email until the next day.  This is a coward.  I was able to fix the problem easily regarding the show.   I like to focus on getting things done and not the drama.  Not easy in the theatre business.  There are a lot of Drama Queens to deal with. 

Emailing and texting is designed for quick, concise communication.  If you want to learn how to communicate clearly in 160 words or less, Twitter is a fantastic tool.  However, I have people following me on Twitter that promote “ending relationships” or “tell them what you think without confronting them over TEXT messages.   TEXT messages.  And these are popular businesses!  If you don’t make time for important discussions in person, you’re a coward.

Not having important discussions in person can impact your life negatively:

1.  Over time, the drama of dealing with people in person will become more unpleasant than it should be.  You may agonize for hours over something that could’ve been dealt with in minutes.

2.  People will lose respect for you and think you’re a wuss.  The definition of “wuss” from the Free Online Dictionary: wuss :  n. Slang A person regarded as weak or timid and especially as unmanly.  Because of this lack of respect, people may not listen to your points of view or flat out ignore them.

Discussing and solving problems in person makes you a stronger person because: 

1.  When life throws you curve balls and life is zooming at 200 miles per hour, this strength will serve you.   You’ll be able to adapt and communicate clearly.   Instead of thinking about what to say in a text or on the phone, you’ll be able to state your case in person.  Your heart may still beat faster at first, but I’d swap a few fast heart beats for being a wuss anyday.

3.  You’ll attract and keep people in your inner circle who are not cowards and wussies.  They’ll have your back.  Cowards don’t.

What I found most interesting in the cowardice definition:  The “lack of spirit.”  Mmmmm…lack of spirit.   That’s so hot when you think about it.  Cowards don’t fight for their wants, desires, dreams, or themselves.   Too afraid to offend anybody, they don’t say anything.  They’re non-confrontational and send a text.    Power is knowing that you can calmly discuss something without getting emotional.  Facing those fears.   A Bitch understands this.   She faces fears and difficult situations with relish.  And that’s spirit!  Love, Goddess

‘Boys tryna touch my junk…’ Kesha

When I heard this line in the popular song “Tik Tok,” my mouth dropped to the South pole.  Junk?  This is the new way women refer to their sexual organs and, or feminine parts?  Whatever happened us celebrating them like Maya Angelou-who refers to hers as “diamonds in the center of her thighs?”  Would you like to learn the origin of one of the most dirty and negative words in the English language?  Cunt=anatomical jewel. 

That should really make your jaw drop.  So should this:

From “Cunt: A Declaration of Independence,” the book by Inga Muscio:  ‘I looked up “cunt” in Barbara G. Walker’s twenty-five year research opus “The Women’s Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets,” and found it was in a title, back in the day.  “Cunt” is related to words from India, China, Ireland, Rome and Egypt.  Such words were either titles of respect for women, priestesses and witches, or derivatives of the names of various goddesses.  The words bitch and whore also share a similar fate in our English language.  This seemed rather fishy to me.  Three words which convey negative meanings about women, specifically, all happen to have once had totally positive associations about women, specifically.’

And now “junk” has been added to the list.  Our society has thought up a trendy, cool way to refer to our sexual organs.  And it’s a synonym for garbage.  What a great way to degrade and diminish us.  (insert my feisty sarcasm here) Oh, really…think that is going to work?  (more feisty sarcasm)   Let’s get back to our diamonds.  Yours, mine and the worlds.  Because ladies, nothing is going to change this mentality unless we do.  That’s why when someone calls you a “bitch” I want you to give them a big smile and say “thank you.”  Because it’s honoring our ancestors and the original respect that word was given to woman.  And we’re bringing it back!  We are going to party with our hot, sexy diamonds and jewels!

So I joined an online dating site.

Yes…I know.  Sounds a little much.   But I did this for a couple of reasons:

1.  When I first started Bitch Lifestyle, I joined a dating website to learn more about the online dating process.   I researched so we could all benefit.  I decided to take a refresher course and relate my experience to you.

2.  You know how I’m always talking about staying focused on your life and let the guys in on your terms?  Let them chase you?  Prove that they should have the privilege of dating hot little you?  I’m applying this to myself.  Because one of these men I might really like.  And he is in no way ready for a real relationship.  So I’m keeping myself all flirty and engaged with as many men possible so I don’t fall into the “Oh, no” again.

So let’s discuss online dating.  How do you online date and let the man chase you?  Easily.  Remember this is about you.  Who lights you up, who you find interesting.  Its up to you to select.  YOU.  So lets keep a few things in mind.

1.  Safety.  You know how to keep yourself safe.  Do it!

2. Keep an open mind about how a person looks and their age.  I have a friend who was dating old men, short men, fat men, bald men.  No one knew why she was doing it because she is beyond hot.  She was doing it to enjoy the men.  The play, the laughter, and keeping her mind open.  You want a man who will back up his words with thoughtful actions.  I don’t care how hot a guy is.  The hotter guy is the one who DOES what he SAYS he’s going to do.  My friend wound up dating the very hot John Corbett (Sex in the City, My Big Fat Greek Wedding) for awhile.  He treated her wonderfully, but she is marrying the man who adored her.  And it isn’t John.

3.  Have fun with this.  Don’t take it so seriously.  Have fun with your profile and post a picture where you are truly happy and having fun.

4.  Online dating is a fantastic way to keep your “Male BS” fine tuned.   Within moments of posting my profile I get an email from a guy.  Two paragraphs, well thought out.  Hysterical.  Dude sends out this message “en masse” to all the new females on line.  There is no way he could have written that and read my profile.  Lame.  The next morning I had an inbox full of it.  LOL.  And a few messages from potential dating candidates.  Emphasis on potential.

5.  Don’t be too available.  Within moments of posting my profile I got an IM from a man who wanted to chat with me.  We chatted for a bit, but I had other things to do (I was tired and wanted to veg in front of the TV) Remember to move to your own rhythm!  If you’re tired, need to work etc. do it, honey!

6.  Move to your own rhythm part 2:  The next morning my inbox was full of mail from men who wanted to chat with me.  I did not answer those emails until later that afternoon.  I had work to do, chores to do and some other fun things I wanted to do for me.  Don’t feel as though you need to answer those messages asap.  You don’t know these men.  There are other things in your life that are more imporant than men you don’t know.  They are your glue.  Stay glued and let the men earn more of your time.

7.  What is a beautiful girl like you doing on an online dating site?  Translation:  What’s wrong with you.  LOL.  Just laugh at this and change it around.  Roll your eyes and think “Why are you so special, hotpants?”  Don’t be angry or bratty about it.  Be amused.  Remember how Dolly Parton dealt with those obnoxious questions from Barbara Walters.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBf5Y0KIUHk

8.  I’m pretty sassy dealing with these men.  But it’s all in fun.  I will use the word “Hotpants” when a guy is being obnoxious.  I’ll call them on their BS if I don’t like something they do or say.   Politely but playfully.   Then I sit back and watch their actions regarding this.  Actions are key. 

9.  A lot of men like to keep their options open.  Why not us?  May the best guy win.   A guy friend of mine (that’s a whole other story) was asking me about who I was dating.  Pumping me for information.  LOL.   He actually high fived me when he figured out I was keeping my options open.   (maybe because he knew his “option” might be opened?)

I love Dolly Parton.  She’s sassy, slightly naughty, smart, witty and wise.  When asked the secret of her long marriage Dolly says: “When my husband gets a little complacent, I pack my bags and stay gone!”  LOVE IT!  Girl knows her power over men.  Other reasons to be inspired by this amazing woman:

1.  She has a fantastic sense of humor.  Even when others put her down.  See #4.

Would you like a hot, sexy shot of testosterone?  Rent The Magnificent Seven.  Seriously.  Even if you don’t like westerns.  The only reason I saw this movie is because I had to in a class.  And I wanted to skip that night.  I’m so glad I didn’t.  Not only was I blown away by this movie, but I had the chance to meet the man who created the music,  Mr. Elmer Bernstein.  After the movie he discussed creating the memorable music score and answered questions.  While watching the movie, I was mesmerized by the masculinity on screen.  You’ll learn a lot about men watching this film:

Synopsis:  A bandit terrorizes a small Mexican farming village each year. Several of the village elders send three of the farmers into the United States to search for gunmen to defend them. They end up with 7, each of whom comes for a different reason. They must prepare the town to repulse an army of over 100 bandits who will arrive wanting food.

1.  If a man likes you, he will try and impress you with his abilities to produce:  Chico is trying to impress a young woman with his tale of bravery.  She’s completely won him over.  You won’t find out how much until the end of the movie.

2.  Men work hard for us.  They are providers.  They want be heroes.  Charles Bronson plays O’Reilly who developes a fan following of young boys.  The boys are in awe of O’Reilly’s skill as a gunman.  One tells him that he thinks he is courageous, unlike his father.  O’Reilly slaps him for the disrespect and says:

“Don’t you ever say that again about your fathers, because they are not cowards. You think I am brave because I carry a gun; well, your fathers are much braver because they carry responsibility, for you, your brothers, your sisters, and your mothers. And this responsibility is like a big rock that weighs a ton. It bends and it twists them until finally it buries them under the ground. And there’s nobody says they have to do this. They do it because they love you, and because they want to. I have never had this kind of courage. Running a farm, working like a mule every day with no guarantee anything will ever come of it. This is bravery. That’s why I never even started anything like that… that’s why I never will.”

The next time you want to Bitch about the long hours your man works, think about this quote.  Appreciate your modern day hero.

3.  Men handle problems in an unemotional, stoic way.  The beyond sexy Steve McQueen plays Vin.  It’s near the end of the film.  To say they have reached a “snag” in their goal to protect the village is an understatement.  Here is the exchange between Vin and Yul Brynner who plays “Chris.”

Vin: You know the first time I took a job as a hired gun, fellow told me, “Vin, you can’t afford to care.” There’s your problem.
Chris: One thing I don’t need is somebody telling me my problem.
Vin: Like I said before, that’s your problem. You got involved in this village and the people in it.
Chris: Do you ever get tired of hearing yourself talk?
Vin: The reason I understand your problem so well is that I walked in the same trap myself. Yeah. First day we got here, I started thinking: Maybe I could put my gun away, settle down, get a little land, raise some cattle. Things that these people know about me be to my credit – wouldn’t work against me. I just didn’t want you to think you were the only sucker in town.

Men may act stoic while resolving a problem, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care.  Notice Chris gets annoyed when Vin states Chris’ problem.  The whole point of Vin pointing out the problem is he wanted Chris to know he wasn’t alone in caring.  They would fight on together.  Remember this in an argument.  It’s not about you.  It’s frustrating to a man when he can’t fix something.  So don’t lecture or push a man about a problem.  Support him and let him know you will be there with and for him.  You want a strong man?  You’ve got to be a strong women for him and that’s how.

Men want to be our heroes.  In our modern times things are a little different.  Men don’t have to learn to shoot a gun to save their families.  (Hoping!) Appreciate and support the men in your life.   Give them a hug, kiss and smile happily when you see them.  It will make their day.  Enjoy this movie.  It’s one of my favorites!  Love, Goddess

Last week on Facebook the assignment was for you to get either kissed or tickled.  I wasn’t thinking about my fun regarding that, I was thinking about yours.   And what happens?  Yesterday I get tickled in an unexpected way from an unexpected person.  Which turned into unexpected fun and pleasure.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day and a friend of mine and I were chatting and working outside.  I talked about the homework assignment that I gave everyone on Bitch Lifestyle Facebook.  We discussed how tickling is so fun, a great stress reducer and adults really need to do it more often.   You know…laughter being the best medicine and all http://bitchlifestyle.com/2009/08/laughter-is-the-best-medicine/ We talked about so much.  We talked more than work, but no worries.  This was Sunday and any work done was a bonus.  Especially on a brilliant summer day! Then it was time to go.   He walked me to my car, I opened the door and I was surprised when he cornered me inside the door and playfully started tickling me.

Now is the point where I ask you this:  Can you enjoy an unexpected pleasure from a man?  Without thinking and over analyzing “What it all means?”  That’s a tough one, I know.  Our brains are always working overtime.  And yes, there was some of that going on with me.  I pushed away the worry and focused on the fun, laughter and playfulness of the unexpected.   It was really fun and surprisingly sensual.  But The Bitch was in control.  Even when he started caressing me softly.  Even when he tried to kiss me.   I just savored.  Finally I firmly took his lower arms, smiled as I looked into his eyes and said, “Thank you, this has been a lot of fun.  I’m going now.”  He smiled, laughed and said…”Good job taking control, Sharon!”  We both laughed because we had been talking about that very thing that afternoon.

How women have all the control over a man.

Do you concentrate on your “lack of love” or “giving love?”

Years ago, I used to focus on the lack of love in my life.  I gained weight and got sad and pissy.  On the inside I was focused on the lack of love I was receiving.  The outside was sunny and warm.  And false.  I decided that was not working for me.  And I couldn’t fit in my cute clothes anymore!  So I surrendered.  I waved a little light pink flag high in the air.  I realized that I was giving love to the wrong people.  People who didn’t love me back and pretty much took all that I was giving.  Over and over.  Why would I do that?  It’s safer.   Huh?  Yes.  If I’m giving love to the people that don’t deserve it, I’m keeping up with that internal monologue I had going.  “I have a lack of love.”  And I’m protecting myself from opening up to the real thing.  Which was much scarier to me. I even added an extra layer of fat to my body as “insulation.”  That insulation was a metaphor for my life.  You won’t hurt me because I have a wall I cleverly put up physically and mentally to keep you out.  Upon that realization I celebrated.  I waved my little pink flag. 

I decided to surrender to the idea of not protecting myself anymore.  By concentrating on giving love and being thankful,  I’ve reset that internal “lack” clock with “abundance.”

And I’ve lost the weight.  I really take care of myself.  The warmth I was exuding on the outside entered my body.  The most amazing, adoring, wonderful, giving men have entered my life.  They stick like glue.  I’m grateful and love them back.  I have a circle of friends that would do anything for me.  The ones that have used me in the past have disappeared.  I don’t miss them or the drama that accompanies them.  It’s wonderful to have a group of friends that I know will be there for me.  I know that when I do something they don’t agree with, they’ll love me anyway.  Because it is who I am and they love me.  As I am.

It starts by waving that little pink flag.  Or lavender flag…whatever colored flag you want.  And starting your love affair with yourself.  Falling in love with yourself is one of the scariest things you’ll ever do.  But it is one of the most fulfilling.  You will never leave you.  Next week we’ll kick off our “Love Affair Week.”  Step by step, day by day we’ll reverse the lack of love, let go and just do it.  Love.  We’ll adore ourselves and those that adore us back.

I want my home to be a pleasure for me and those I love.  I put this phrase in a word file, colored it and put it in a beautiful frame on the mantle.  It’s one of the first things people see when they walk into my home.  I got the idea from Isabella Stewart Gardener.  http://bitchlifestyle.com/2009/10/think-youre-too-old-and-ugly-to-be-a-seductress-think-again/ She loved art, collected it and then put it in a museum that was named after her.   She put a similar phrase at the opening of the doorway to the museum.  A warm welcoming to her guests.  I loved it!

I’ve worked really hard to make my home welcoming to my guests and the people I love.  But it wasn’t really work.  The whole process was a pleasure.  Picking out beautiful pillows, candles, a soft faux fur blanket, incense, pink boas, etc.  The words that I used as inspiration were “Sensual,” “Feminine,”  “Warm,” “Comfortable,” “Inviting.”  I got a wonderful compliment from a friend who visited with me yesterday.  They loved coming over because it was so comfortable.  They felt they were on vacation and had really gone away!  Yay!

I haven’t spent a lot of money.  I just keep an open eye and mind to pieces that fit in my home, where I can arrange them, and my favorite colors.  You can spend a lot of money on things and never really enjoy them.  The faux fir blanket that I get so many compliment on only cost $19.95 at Marshall’s.  One comfy piece can make a room.  How about you, lovely one?  Have you made your home a comfy palace for you? No matter how small the space you can make a little sanctuary for yourself.   Incorporate as many senses as possible:  sight, taste, smell, hearing and touch.  Here are some ideas:

Kitchen:  Buy herb plants and put them in a sunny window, pick some daisies and put them in a vase on the table, get some new bright colored plates for summer, have your favorite thing to eat in the pantry or refrigerator.

Entry Way:  Hang some eucalyptus with a pretty bow, vacuum and get rid of any clutter, put some pictures up, or add a shelf to organize.

Family Room:  Add candles, incense, a beautiful art print, put a bright colored geranium in the window, get a new throw for your couch, or throw around some beautiful pillows.

Bathroom:  Put your favorite hand lotion next to the sink.  Throw out any old, worn out towels and toiletries. 

Bedroom:  Add your favorite color, a splash of pink, lavender, whatever you love.  Get some sexy smelling candles.  De-clutter your make-up area.  Put your most beautiful make-up, brushes, perfume bottles, lotions and potions on display.  Put your favorite glitter or lotion next to your night stand to enjoy before turning off the light. 

Sound like fun?  It really is fun decorating your space.  I was amazed at how many beautiful things I had just sitting in a drawer.  So pick a room to play with.  Make it your own little “Picasso in the works.”  And please share your fun ideas, beautiful.  We would all benefit from them!
