Healthy Habits of Centenarians? Today we are keeping it so simple. I read this today and just had to share with you all. This is from the Queen Mother, who lived to be 101 years old. With everyone telling you how to eat, when to eat, what to eat, how to do this for your health, how to do that for your health…this was refreshing. It is what she made clear in her official biography “Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother,” regarding her longevity:
“Wouldn’t it be terrible if you’d spent your life doing everything you were supposed to do, didn’t drink, didn’t smoke, didn’t eat things, took lots of exercise, all the things you didn’t want to do, and suddenly one day you were run over by a big red bus, and as the wheels were crunching into you you’d say “Oh my God, I could have got so drunk last night!” That’s the way you should live your life. As if tomorrow you’ll be run over by a big red bus.”
So there you have it — superior advice from a woman who LIVED. Healthy habits of centenarians is a real helpful thing to study…no? Yes, we want to keep our energy level at its peak so we can do all we want to do. BUT if we don’t sprinkle some fun into our day every day we are not living. Live pleasured. Every single day.
