Big Bang Theory Goddess?

Penny from the Big Bang Theory is fantastic inspiration for Sassy Bitches every where.  Penny is beautiful, warm, street smart, loving, witty and playful.  Penny communicates the way a true Sassy Bitch does:  in a bottom line way. And?  Penny will call you on your crap when you need it!   She is a perfect example of what happens to a man when a good, caring woman comes into his life.  The nerdy guys from the show all become better men.  They even get girlfriends!  Even the most annoying of them all, Sheldon.  The best way to appreciate what she does?  With video clips.  Man-Handling 101 Penny style!  Here are examples with bullet point analysis after the video:

  1.  Penny handles someone being obnoxious when she is doing them a favor:

Bullet Points:

  • Penny shows she is a wonderful friend by honoring Sheldons’ favor.
  • Sheldon is completely clueless.  Focused on himself only.
  • Notice how Penny treats Sheldon when he is obnoxious?  She pays very little attention to him.  As a result, he becomes uneasy and uncomfortable.  This is an effective tactic when a guy is being obnoxious.  They hate this!  You can up the ante by saying absolutely nothing.   Read More:  The Obnoxious Male
  • Penny asks him to “shut up” politely with her “quiet time” demand. Sheldon, still clueless and self-absorbed does not comply.
  • That’s it.  Sheldon touched her last nerve. Notice how she tells him to get out with absolutely NO emotion.

2.   Penny communicating in a bottom line way:

Bullet Points:

  • Penny asks her question.  No sugar-coating.
  • When Sheldon gives her a “non-answer,” she calls him on it.
  • Sheldon shares how he truly feels.  Then, knowing Sheldon so well, Penny thanks him for opening up to her.
  • Sheldon has huge issues and yet Penny has built up trust with him so he can open up to her more than even his best guy friends! You know someone loves you when they are willing to ask you tough questions.  And Penny does that with those she loves.

3.  Penny is warm, loving and thoughtful.  Giving Sheldon a gift that she knows will rock his world.

Bullet Points:

  • Good reminder:  It’s not the price that goes into a gift.  It’s the thought.  It’s understanding someone and knowing how to make them feel loved!
  • The moment where Sheldon in his unbelievably awkward way hugs Penny?  With all his touching issues?  Kinda says it all, right?

Lucky for all of us, Big Bang Theory has been on for years so we can watch and learn from a true Sassy Goddess. Click here for more videos…have fun with your homework!  Love, Goddess

Your Strength How Strong are You?

Your srength
Your strength. Get stronger so you can embrace adventure! Gorgeous image from https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/e2/67/94/e26794615d6e34f45cf9645cd16f5333.jpg

Your strength…how strong are you?

Can you imagine…

You cannot talk.  Cannot see.  Cannot hear.  You know touch.  At first…as a baby, this may not affect you that much.  Your needs are met.  You eat and sleep.  You cry and someone comes to take care of you. Then, as you start to get older, you can’t communicate because of these sensory issues.  You start to get frustrated. Because you’re frustrated, you look for ways to get a reaction. Tantrums get you attention.  But tantrums still don’t get what you need. Understanding.  Of who, what and where you are.  Can you imagine?  This is how Helen Keller, after an illness that almost killed her at age two, existed.  Existed.  Trapped in that existence. I can’t even imagine that. Overcoming that.  But she did.   How do you get through to someone, communicate to someone so they understand and break them out of their “trapped existence?”

Helen Keller was rescued by a tutor, Anne Sullivan.  Sullivan had been blind but through a series of operations, had gotten some of her sight back.  Anne patiently tried teaching Helen sign language.  Whenever Anne tried to teach Helen sign language by signing in Helens’ hand, Helen would reject her.  This took a long time because Helens’ parents felt guilty and helpless regarding Helen.  They didn’t know how to help her so they just let her be.  Whenever Helen didn’t get what she wanted, she would throw a tantrum. Helen was completely undisciplined.

Discipline = Strength.

Anne knew this and wouldn’t let Helen get away with anything.  Helen learned that if she were to get what she wanted it wouldn’t happen until Anne “signed” the item in Helens’ hand. Finally, when Helen finally understood what Anne was doing?  She was euphoric.  Helen indulged in her thirst for knowledge.  She learned how to speak.  To inspire others to overcome disabilities she lectured and wrote a book.  Her passion founded foundations and earned her medals of honor.  None of this would have happened without the ONE person who wasn’t afraid of giving Helen what she needed.  A serious kick in the ***.  Anne.  Discipline. Anne knew Helen would never succeed or learn without discipline.

How disciplined are you?  Who loves you enough to tell you WHEN you need to be more disciplined?  Listen to them. They may be telling you something you don’t want to hear.  They are doing it because they care.  The people that truly love you aren’t afraid of telling you the truth.  Listen to them.

There is discipline in everything you do.  Work.  Play.  Body care. Skin care. Home care. The more disciplined you are the more you can handle. Emotionally and physically.  Where can you add some more discipline?  Where do you feel you could be a stronger woman?  Communication? If so, take a class.  Find a mentor. Find a person whom you admire and watch them communicate.  Here are two I like:  Judge Judy-for her no BS attitude.  Michelle Yeoh: Dominating Martial Arts.

And really?  That’s all there is to it.  Just do it.  Channel your inner Nike slogan and become a stronger person for YOU.  Become your own Anne Sullivan.  She will have your back, Helen. Love, Goddess

Clip from the movie “Dangerous Beauty,” based loosely on Veronica Franco and her life.  From the You Tube JackieP17402

Every Girls Dream?  Can you imagine getting PAID to talk?  Can you imagine having a conversation style that is so enchanting, so fun, entertaining and oh so challenging that you were paid for it? Veronica Franco was.  In 1546 Venice a woman didn’t “need” to be educated.  From the Book of the Courtesans:  ” Not only was she (Veronica Franco) bright but she was also educated, an accomplishment rare among the women of her time, when out of any given hundred women in the city, fewer than 10 knew how to read, and of these, less than four had received any public schooling. ”   Veronica was born to a family of “citiadini originari,” or working class citizens.  Only the sons would have received an education. Veronica had a choice.  The limitations of which may concern women today:

1.  Marry and re-produce.

2.  Say “Ciao” to marriage and pursue her true passion:  Education.  The catch?  She was to become a Courtesan.

When Veronica chose #2, she was allowed to go to the libraries of Venice and read to her hearts’ content.  To educate herself in philosophy, the “isms,” religion, literature, history and poetry.  You see, the reason why a Courtesan was permitted to learn was so she could bring pleasure to the men who paid for her.  Veronica’s passion toward learning usurped the pleasures her body could give to men (don’t get me wrong…men enjoyed both) but she was able to embrace her passion, give herself pleasure while still enduring the downside to being a young woman in the Venice of her day.

“When we too are armed and trained, we can convince men that we have hands, feet, and a heart like yours; and although we may be delicate and soft, some men who are delicate are also strong; and others, coarse and harsh, are cowards. Women have not yet realized this, for if they should decide to do so, they would be able to fight you until death; and to prove that I speak the truth, amongst so many women, I will be the first to act, setting an example for them to follow.  —Veronica Franco 1546-1591”

And so she did…men flocked to her to challenge them intellectually.

We are SO much luckier than Veronica because we have the freedom to choose to do whatever we want.  Veronica accomplished much with little choice.  We all have a gorgeous brain and passions that light us up.  Can you imagine the fun we can have if we indulge ourselves in them and learn how to communicate in an enthusiastic and passionate manner? Intelligent conversation can be tough in our Facebook, Text and Twitter world.   So let the story of the stimulating Veronica Franco spur your passions…and your ability to charm and draw in people with conversation.  Here are some ideas:

  1. Read something you never thought you would.  Go to the library and explore.  Take out a bunch of books and lounge while you explore new ideas, events and activities.
  2. What successful person do you think has a beautiful voice and amazing conversational skills?  Who do you enjoy watching on talk shows that draw you in?  Study and learn from them. Put your own personal spin on the qualities that YOU find inspiring.
  3. Discover something that is not “popular right now.”  Pop culture is complete escapism.  Yes, we all need to escape, but consider spending less time on pop culture and something that can enrich you.  Like a financial, cooking or art class.
  4. Go to a museum.  Discover which artists are you favorites.  Study WHY.  Be able to communicate why in an enchanting manner.
  5. Open your vocabulary.  Crosswords, scrabble with friends party, subscribe to the “word of the day.”
  6. When you are doing all this new discovery, keep an open mind.   Very hard to do when there is opinion everywhere!  Discover and enjoy without influence.

And please oh please share with us your conversational journey!  Love, Goddess

In Celebration Phenomenal Woman Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou
Kick *** inspiration image + quote from Maya Angelou found at Feministing.com

Maya Angelou…inspirational Goddess.

Tuesday night I was going through the pages I love to read for Bitch Lifestyle on Facebook.  I read Maya Angelou’s … one of my favorites.  She had been sick for a long time and she posted about it frequently.  Despite her illness, she was always upbeat, always inspiring, always a strong and sassy woman.  There was something different about this latest post to me.  I was having a hard time putting my thoughts together.  I couldn’t find the right thing to say in her comment section, never a problem before.  The reason why was because my Bitch voice was telling me something that I didn’t want to hear.  My Bitch voice was telling me this was it.  Who wants to listen to that truth?  When you are in tune with your Bitch, and all the women around you are in tune with their Bitch, you just know.  You feel it.  You feel them.  My Sassy Bitch intuition was telling me she was leaving us.  As I write this I’m crying.  Sad for the reality and in awe of the power.  Crying because our inner truth is so powerful.  Even with the women we don’t know personally.  And it’s scary.

The next day after running errands, yesterday, I opened my AOL and there she was.  A beautiful picture of Maya.  She had died.  Shocked because a few hours earlier I knew.  My Sassy Bitch intuition has been unbelievably accurate lately.  I could tell you things that would make you flip!  My intuition/Bitch voice.  Your intuition/Bitch voice.  It is so powerful.  It gives you incite that will make you…uh FLIP.   That voice who only looks out for you and sees the truth before the world.  That voice that connects you to other such powerful, inspirational women.  Women are all kindred spirits.

So in celebration of Maya Angelou, please create a little ritual for her, for you and all other women out there.  The powerful women, the mothers, the leaders and the repressed. Create a gorgeous place for your ritual.  Do whatever you need to do to feel beautiful and sacred as a woman.  Here is the link for her poem “Still I Rise.” Print it out and read it out loud. Really feel the celebration of woman in it.  To honor Maya and every other woman on the planet.

Love, Goddess
