Frolick with Abandon

Today we are going to learn all about frolicking and how to do so with abandon.

#1.  Let’s look at the definition of frolicking in the online dictionary:

Frolic frol·ic (frlk) adj.  Merry.  To engage in merrymaking, joking, or teasing. To behave playfully and uninhibitedly; romp. frol·icked, frol·ick·ing, frol·ics A playful antic. A gay, carefree time. Gaiety; merriment: fun and frolic.

Frolic Verb[-icking, -icked] to run and play in a lively way

Frolic Noun:a light-hearted occasion [Dutch vrolijk] lively and merry behaviour

#2.  Frolicking benefits and enhances our lives and here’s how:

a.  It’s fun

b.  When done as a form of exercise, increases heart rate and can be considered a healthy aerobic activity.  See Shape Magazine for more:  http://www.shape.com

c.  As we grow into adults, we get busy and forget how to play.  Fun and laughter is something to live for!  Want more? See Tweens and Tween News:  http://www.tweensandteensnews.com

‘Play Deserves a Comeback:  Aside from letting off steam and letting out pent-up aggression or distress, making up games stimulates the imagination and jump starts the brain.’

3.  Video demonstration of frolicking:  Young men frolicking:   http://frolicking.org/52/deep-woods-frolicking/

See where I’m going with this?  Frolicking is fun and healthy.  I’ve laid out all the benefits for our cute, busy, rationalizing and responsibility driven minds.   So go ahead and indulge.  It’s easy to forget to frolic, so here’s what I do:  I schedule frolicking time.  Here’s an example of my “frolicking work load” the next few days:

Tonight I’m going to frolic in Boston with 8 gorgeous women.  We are going to this super sexy place with delicious food and naughty sounding drinks:  “Sugar Daddy from Miami,”  “Dirty Little Secret,” or “Satan’s Whiskers.” One of these hot sounding cocktails may be my “poison” tonight.  Friday night I’m frolicking with one of my dearest friends, Lori.  Saturday and Sunday I’ll be frolicking with my friend Suzana.  We’re having a girl get away.  We’re going to a soccer game at Gillette Stadium. (home of the New England Patriots) I’ve never been to a professional soccer/football game before.  Fun bonus:  Gillette Stadium has developed so many playful opportunities with “Patriots Place.”   http://www.patriot-place.com/about.aspx  So glad we decided to spend the night there.

So your assignment today is:  Frolick.  Schedule it if you have to.  Play, play, play!  I would love to hear about all your frolicking adventures!

Fun Tip of the Day

New Fun…instead of 1 Fun Tip, I’m posting 5 for the next few days:

1.  Get in touch with your inner child:  Remember the things you loved to do as a child?  Puzzles, starring in a grand adventure, coloring, playing dress up?  Do one today.  Play with a new lipstick color, fantasize your the heroine or get some crayons and create your own instant “Picasso.”

2.  Try something new.  Anything.  It could be as simple as taking a new route to work or as exotic as a Hibiscus Margarita.  The world is your delicious oyster to play with.

3.  Try something that scares the you know what out of you.  Something you’ve always said you would “never do.”  You may surprise yourself.  I’ll never forget one of my “I’ll never do that” experiences from years ago.  I said I would never ever in a million years try “paint ball.”  Too messy, violent, I’d get hurt, etc.  I signed up with a group of friends.  I was terrified.  I thought I’d lost it.   The day of the event was a gorgeous fall day.   The paint ball wars took place in a huge gorgeous forest.  The forest had fortresses, castles, western towns.  It was SO fun…the adrenaline rush, the scenery, the camaraderie.

4.  Enjoy some puppies or kittens.  Let them jump all over you.

5.  Put some glimmer, stickers or temporary tattoos on a favorite body part.  Or your least favorite body part.  Admire yourself in the mirror.

Okay…I couldn’t resist one more…

6.  Turn off the radio, cell, computer.  Go to a quiet place.  It could be your room or the beach, etc.  Close your eyes and do absolutely nothing…except listen.  You’ll be amazed at what you hear.

Fun Boot Camp: Part Deux

This is for you.  Those beauties who don’t have time and are too tired to have fun.  For those of you who think I’m crazy for starting a fun boot camp.   I’m presenting for you a fun way to acknowledge your fun funk and play with it.  It’s because I love you.  It’s a little experiment in fun denial.  So let’s get your butts off the couch and work it!

Warm Ups:

Roll your eyes from side to side at the thought of having a little fun.  Do this 4 times slowly.
Sigh dramatically after finishing the eye rolls.  Raise and lower your shoulders while sighing.  Do this 5 times.
Play your favorite CD or turn the radio to your favorite music station.
Stand back from the radio/song and lament about not wanting to have fun and why.

Now for the main fun work out:

Start to move your body…however you feel like dancing.  If you still don’t feel like having fun compliment yourself for getting this far.  If you’re having fun…keep dancing to the song and then get back to chores/work.

Cool down:

Congratulate yourself for taking a moment for you.

As always, I would love to know how it goes and what you discovered!

Love, Goddess
